2013 is upon us! The 6 Js household is full of activity. We will be in the World very soon. After a couple of days at my parents we’ll be staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge for a week. We have loved out previous 3 trips to WDW with various family members but we are looking forward to “just” the 6 of us getting to experience WDW together as a family. It should be fun. Lots of good stuff planned. Maybe not as many extravagant surprises as last year’s huge event (maybe!). But it should be still be interesting.
We’re doing MNSSHP on Tuesday 10/22. Keep an eye out for the Incredi-Js. We’re wearing Incredibles t-shirts homemade by Jen. They look great! Can’t beat the price either. The shirts were 2.99 each at Michael’s and the vinyl cost about $20 for all of it. So $6.33 per shirt. DEAL! There may also be a Tron-style light up stroller themed to match the red and yellow. We’ll see.
We’re all set with Magic Bands and Fast Pass Plus reservations. We’re toning it down on the character meals and not doing the Dining Plan for the first time. Hoping cash saves us a little money and looking forward to the freedom of not being on the plan. Don’t get me wrong, for past trips with a huge character meal almost every day I loved it. We have a fast pass for the Be Our Guest QS lunch planned thanks to Liners inside advice. We also have a table service dinner planned there. We’ll be hitting Le Cellier for the first time and doing ‘Ohana brunch, as always.
More to post about later but wanted to get the ball rolling with this. Tonight at DS13’s last football practice a mouse ran into the huddle at the end of practice. Is that a sign or what?
See ya real soon!
Thanks to a conversation on the Lines chat I put together a page of links to maps and viewing areas for parades. mkayo1976 posted links to some maps stored in a public dropbox. For a long time Robo has had a vast collection of maps on stitchkingdom.com available for public viewing. I decided to combine them into one location in case people find it more convenient to access the information this way. If you have a similar resource to suggest for me to add to the page let me know.
Touring plans, sunscreen, plastic baggies, ponchos, pins, backup hard copies of reservation numbers, buttons, wipes, water bottles, cameras, video cameras, cell phones, iPads, diapers, portable chargers, extra clothes, snacks – seriously how is the well prepared WDW guest supposed to carry all of this around with them? There are as many choices for your Park Bag as there are people who are choosing them. Here are a few thoughts, nuggets and tips gathered over time. I hope you find them helpful or entertaining or both.
This came in the mail today. The perfect way to wrap up the memories of a great trip!
New pin arrived today! From Disney Movie Rewards. Really happy with the quality on this for what was basically a giveaway.
Sunday morning, Nov 18, 2012. The day we head home. Flight around 3pm so we have to catch the Magical Express (aka Tragical Express) around noon. Even though it sounds like a lot of time we pretty much just packed up at a relaxed pace and had a meal. Sure, I had thoughts of heading over to AK for a brief visit but with such a large group everything always takes just a little bit longer than you think it will. Add to that the level of exhaustion and the time to shuttle over to Jambo for a meal at the Mara and there just was not enough time.
The last full day. We all know the feeling right? I feel like I did this one right. I made ressies at a couple different places so we’d have options but otherwise left this day unplanned. We were able to discuss over the last day or so leading up to it and decide as a group what we wanted to do. It’s so hard to predict what isn’t going to work out despite your best planning efforts. So leave some time toward the end of the trip to go back after the things you missed out on or the things you want to do again. We decided to park hop today. We started at Hollywood Studios and then headed to Epcot. We did so much at HS it was redonkulous. Of course we started with the TSMM stampede. Since we had already done the Jedi Training Academy we didn’t have to split up this time and I got to reassert my dominance. Then it was a cavalcade of attractions. Rock n Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror, TSMM again, Star Tours a couple of times, other minor attractions, lunch and on our way to Epcot.
